Football Manager 2018 Review
It is November and that means it’s time for Football Manager 2018 Review.
I have been playing Football Manager since 2000 when it was called Championship Manager. I still have vivid memories with some of the teams I managed during the years. Even here on GamerPET I had a couple of “Let’s Play” series. In 2013 I played with Wolves, in 2014 with Watford, in 2015 with Norwich, in 2016 with Porstmouth however I did no videos on that run.
Also, one of my first review is for Football Manager 2013 ! I also did a review on Football Manager 2015 . No idea why I didn’t reviewed Football Manager 2014, probably because I wasn’t happy with the new additions.
Speaking of additions, that’s the main reason why I skipped Football Manager 2017. The only useful feature that I saw there was the Social Media part that really helped lower the amount of news you used to get on your main news feed.
So, a new year approaches, SiGames start to announce the features and I’m a bit intrigued. The new additions are very interesting and on top of that, since I skipped FM2017, I will also get that Social Media feature that I wanted 😀
This are the new features from FM2018: Squad Dynamics, Medical Center, Scouting (major improvement), Improvements on the Tactics with some new roles, UI improvements, etc, and some improvements to the Match Experience with new UI, and some other stuff.
Those are the most important stuff. There are a lot of minor improvements that I will get into them later.

Those screens show a lot of stuff that in the past were just “in your mind”. Especially that Match Cohesion. I knew that my team might play a bit poorly because I have new players in the squad, but I never knew exactly how it looked. Now we can see that. We can also see the Locker Room Atmosphere and the Leadership Support. On all of those sections you can see exactly what are the pluses and the minuses so you can improve that aspect of the team.
Another “tab” that I like in this new Squad Dynamics screen is the Happiness of the players. I can easily see what are the problems of my players.
Another new feature that is amazing is the Medical Center. You can now see exactly who is in danger of getting injured and more important you can see the reason. This really made me more aware of this problem and in a way it forced me to rotate my players.
Scouting in Football Manager 2018 also got improved. It is a bit more realistic let’s say. I started with Coventry in League 2 and our scouting budget wasn’t to big… and yea. Because of that I coudn’t see all the players in the world. I wasn’t getting any hints that other players existed. I was only looking internally what players I can find, while in older games I was always searching for potentian low players in Italy, Spain, etc.
Also, you are constantly going to get reports for interesting players and you can chose if you want to keep scouting that player or not. Makes it feel more realisting in a way that you are the Manager and you have a staff that comes to you with a list of players and you go … “this one yes, this one no”. It makes you feel a bit more empowered. At one point I kept getting reports way to soon for me to click that so I just tasked this task to my Chief Scout or the General Manager (I forgot) and basically that dude was filtering the results and only giving me the top recommendations.
So overall I’m pretty happy with this years new additions. Of course there are a lot of smaller improvements but you can find those by watching the official videos. I only wanted to showcase what I like about this years updates.
Also have a look at some other screenshots from my game 🙂
