Steamworld Dig 2 – Currently Playing
Oh well. It seems that I really got into platformers lately. I’m almost done with Sonic Mania, I bought Shovel Knight for PS4 since I didn’t had a chance to play it, I played a bit of A Robot Named Fight and I have CRYPTARK in my backlog and now Steamworld Dig 2 is out.
And man I am happy that is out. You know, playing Sonic Mania really made me appreciate SteamWorld Dig 2 even more. More exactly it made me appreciate the OLD SteamWorld Dig which I reviewed back in 2014 (YouTube Review). Wow, looking back at that video… what a bad video…
But back at the game, it made me appreciate the OLD SteamWorld Dig because I’m only about 2 hours in into Steamworld Dig 2 so I can’t form a proper opinion, but my god there are so many improvements. New mechanics and the whole world is much bigger. Even combat is posing a little bit of a threat because I don’t know how to engage those damn birds. I remember that on the first game, all you did was mostly dig down then go into various caves that are more puzzlish like to try to unlock them and get whatever it’s in. But now, new cities, new maps… a lot of characters to talk…
Anyway. I was saying why after playing Sonic Mania it made me appreciate SteamWorld Dig more. Well, Sonic Mania was a fun experience, but it was also a very frustrating one. Steamworld Dig 2 manages to allow you to really enjoy the platforming aspects of the game. The music is chill. You get a little bit cozy and claustrophobic because you dig and dig and dig and you are still wondering, what else will I find in those depths!
So I’m going to try to enjoy this one and make a proper article & review later.
P.S. I’m also playing Divinity: Original Sin 2… my god what a game that is!
