Hello guys! Welcome to my attempt to do a review for Das Mörtal album Always Loved.
I say attempt to do a review because I have never done an album review. The thing is that this album is so great that I have to share the love with you. So excuse me if I don’t use proper words or proper terms when I try to describe the music.
I know about Das Mörtal for a couple of years. According to my Last.fm profile I first listen to him on 13-March-2015. It was around the launch of Hotline Miami 2. The song named Hotline Miami II is simply amazing. It’s what drew my attention towards the artist. The sound is clean. He uses synths. The melody is enjoyable. Not sure exactly how to describe it. See… I told you that I don’t know what words to use! But the main idea is that Das Mörtal has a really clean sound that I really enjoy listening to especially when I work. It manages to entertain me while at the same time not distract me involuntary… you know on how some songs are… random sounds on random places that really get you out of the “zone”. An example of this would me Mac DeMarco’s song Moonlight on the River which is very enjoyable until the end of the song where you start to hear random noise.
Another song that I liked is Minimal Chainsaw. This song is a bit in another style. Much more dark & brutal… especially because of that chainsaw sound and repetitive sound patterns. But this only shows that Das Mörtal can work in this whole spectrum of synths.
So… at the end of May I see an announcement that Das Mörtal is going to release his first album on 9th June. Not only that but that album is also going to be released on vinyl! And as some of you might know… I started to collect vinyls of albums that I like. Of course that I’m not going to jump in. I don’t buy everything. I only buy albums that work well on vinyl. Meaning albums that have decent songs all around and only only 1-2 good songs per album.
